Renting a comfortable car for the lowest rates in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, California is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, and is the states’ third largest city, by population. It has a variety of old and historic restaurants and lovely regional museums. The city plays host to the California Scottish Games and Clan Gathering, the Kern County Basque Festival and has many sites made famous by country music legends such as Merle Haggard and other performers of the ‘Bakersfield Sound’.

With such a large number of potential tourist attractions, it’s no surprise that Bakersfield welcomes record numbers of tourists every year. Most arrive via the city’s primary airport, Meadows Field. All of the major car rental companies have a presence at the airport, which is located several miles away from Bakersfield proper. As is the case with most American cities, you’ll need a car to get around downtown and the surrounding areas.

When choosing a car rental company, there are two main things to be considered, comfort and price. Both of these are equally important in the rental process, because while you don’t want to pay a lot, neither do you want to ride around in something that makes the trip anything other than 100% enjoyable.

Finding the lowest price is quite simple and of the two, it’s the easiest to accomplish. There are several ways to go about getting the lowest price.

First off, compare the deals offered by the rental companies at the airport. Look at the prices for the make and model you’d like to rent and compare and contrast. When you’ve decided, take a look for any special discounts or coupons. Most car rental services have some form of offer on mileage, model upgrade, etc., which can drastically reduce the actual price you’ll be paying.

Also, consider calling ahead, before you make your reservation, to find out what kind of deal the local car rental branch can cut you. It’s always worth a shot to get a better deal.

As far as comfort goes, consider the number of travelers going on your trip and your own personal comfort zone. If you’re traveling with a group, you’re obviously not going to rent a compact or even a midsize vehicle. For more than two people, consider a van or sports utility vehicle to give everyone that little extra bit of legroom.

If it’s just you, you have a bit more leeway as far as your choice of vehicle goes. A compact is a great money saver and, if you don’t like a lot of extraneous space, is the perfect travel vehicle. A midsize is the next level up and will give you a bit more legroom and extra luggage space, which can be important if you’re going on a long trip.
If you like lots of space and you can find a good deal, think of getting a sports or luxury car for your trip. Remember, comfort and style are not mutually exclusive.
